Legacy sits between Macleod Trail and the Bow River, south of Walden, at the city limit with Foothills County. It's developed by WestCreek Developments and has four shopping areas: Legacy Township, Legacy Corner, Legacy Grove and Legacy Village.

Townhomes, duplexes, detached homes and estate homes with larger lots, built from the early 2010s and still growing.
Schools
All Saints High School (Calgary Catholic) and Legacy Montessori are in the community. The developer lists a K to 9 school under construction and future public elementary and junior high sites, so check the latest designation for your address.
Parks, shopping and amenities
The 300 acre environmental reserve is protected from development and has about 15 km of pathways. The playgrounds are colour themed (Orange, Blue, Red, Yellow and Green Park), and Purple Park has a pump track and an amphitheatre. Legacy Township has a Sobeys and more than 20 shops, and Fish Creek Park is a short drive north.
Getting around
Macleod Trail and Stoney Trail connect to the rest of the city. Downtown is about 20 to 30 minutes by car. Confirm bus service with Calgary Transit.
Who it suits
First time buyers wanting new construction, families who want green space, and move up buyers looking at larger estate homes.
Local tip
Legacy is still building out, so you can compare a brand new home with one that is a few years old on the next street. Resale homes often come with landscaping, fencing and window coverings already done, which adds up fast on a new build.
School designations and transit routes change. Confirm your address with the Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Catholic School District and Calgary Transit.
