Where it is
Mahogany sits in the southeast, with 52 Street SE to the west and Stoney Trail to the north. It borders Auburn Bay and is minutes from Seton. The community was approved in 2007 and has been built in phases since, around the lake, wetlands and a central village market.
Homes
You'll find condos, townhomes, duplexes, laned homes, front drive detached homes and estate homes, including some backing onto the lake or wetlands. Almost everything was built after 2007, so layouts are modern. First time buyers tend to start with condos and townhomes, families look at detached and semi detached homes near schools and parks, and move up buyers look at larger or lake oriented homes. Some downsizers choose Mahogany for newer, low maintenance options close to healthcare.
Schools
Mahogany School (CBE, K to 5) and Divine Mercy Elementary (Calgary Catholic, K to 6) are in the community. Junior high and high school students are usually designated to schools in nearby communities like Douglasdale and Seton.
Parks, shopping and amenities
The 63 acre lake has two private resident beaches and a beach club with programs all year. There are more than 20 km of pathways, wetlands and over 200 acres of open space. Mahogany Village Market has groceries, restaurants, cafes, fitness, medical and professional services.
Getting around
Most people drive, using 52 Street SE, Stoney Trail and Deerfoot Trail. Calgary Transit buses link Mahogany to Seton and the South Health Campus. The future Green Line is planned along the 52 Street SE corridor, with timing still to be confirmed.
Who it suits
First time buyers who want a newer condo or townhome with lake access, families who want elementary schools, parks and the beach club, and move up buyers looking for larger or lakeside homes.
School designations and transit routes change. Confirm your address with the Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Catholic School District and Calgary Transit.
